The 181S slows as it approaches the north end of Portage. The train is bound for the dumper at Seward and eventually export.

The engineer on a southbound coal train leans out and gives a big wave as he makes his way to Seward.

4014 screams through Portage bound for Seward, this is the last place to shoot the train until it gets to Moose point as the train will get deep into the mountains and glaciers.

4014 makes the S curve from the east side of Snow River to the west side passing through a very nice truss Bridge with a absolutely beautiful background on the other side of the river.

After running through the most inaccessible part of the railroad the coal train finally comes back within viewing range of the road and crosses trail lake in Moose Pass.

After making the day and a half 350 mile plus trip and climbing several 3% grades from Healy to Seward the Coal train with 6 mac's, 3 up front and 3 in DP on the rear are on the last couple miles ... (more)
